As air quality has become an increasingly important topic at EU level, the European aggregates industry has started looking into what impact it has on air quality, especially with regard to PM2.5 and PM10 emissions, and what can be done to better understand this aspect.
UEPG Air Quality Task Force
In order to better understand the issue of air quality, UEPG has established a dedicated task force where experts from the aggregates industry can exchange on the matter.
The main emissions from a quarry are particulate matters of various dimensions. A series of studies have been launched in France, Spain or Germany in order to understand what impact does a quarry have on the surrounding environment, with very positive results. Here are some results of these studies: http://programme-emcair.fr/.
For an improved sharing of best practices, UEPG has also developed an Air Quality Toolbox available for companies across Europe.
